Hillary Diane Andales, an 18-year-old student in Philippine Science High School – Eastern Visayas Campus brought home Php20,000,000 after joining the international science competition called the Breakthrough Junior Challenge. The Grade 12 student said that she wants to clear the misconceptions that students are usually bad at physics. She said that “physics is about everything and it matters to everyone.” A total of 11,000 entries were submitted to the competition from 178 countries. She surpassed them all and won $400,000. $100,000 of the cash prize will proceed to the lab equipment for their school which would be named after her.source:youtube
